I love this photo--everything about it. And, on a personal note: The phrase "horse divas" brings to mind a confession from a friend who said that when he first read the phrase "hors d'oeuvres" he pronounced it "horse dervies!"
Clair... what a crack up! My Dad always called them "horse's ovaries".
This picture...I had no idea little brother was in the background, looking quite like a BIG brother, when I took it. I just walked up to the sisters and said, "May I please take your picture?" And they struck the pose. Darlings. Look at all the blue ribbons.
This was taken at the fairgrounds in Estancia, NM the beginning of August 2010.
Actually, when I was a child and a great reader, but no party-goer, I called them (in my head) "hores a devours." Good thing they never let me out in company.
