Happy Anniversary Woodstock!

I'm part of the "Woodstock Generation" and proud of it.

Disclaimer: I'm not solely responsible for much of the great or any of the idiotic things some of my generation has, well, generated.

So, better late than never, today I'll celebrate the celebration held on Max Yasgur's dairy farm in August of 1969. I'll listen to some Creedence and some CSN&Y. I'll Sha-Na-Na into the night. I wasn't one of the 400,000 in the mud but I saw the movie in 1970. That makes me an honorary, but drug-free participant.

One question: If I don't remember being at Woodstock, does that mean I could have been?

Far out...have a great day!

Well I WAS there, and it wasn't nearly as much fun as people make it out to be. Maybe I wasn't doing enough drugs, but the mud and rain was awful, and we hadn't brought any food (fools that we were, we thought we could buy food there), and we left Saturday afternoon, well before all the great acts came on. Eeesh.

I still have my tickets. I tried to give them to the hippies at the gate (this was after they'd already taken down the fence), and they just laughed and waved us through. When we left Saturday, we were the only car - and I mean the ONLY one - headed OUT of town. All the hippies in the standstill traffic were yelling at us, "Hey, you freaks, YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!" We just laughed and waved and kept driving, but as soon as we got home, and saw all the brouhaha on the news, we knew we'd just bailed on the event of the century. We were mortified. I lied for years and told everyone I'd stayed to the end and helped the Diggers clean up. Alas, the folly of youth.

Love your site, girlfriend.

I was a Woodstock wannabe. In my heart, I'm a Woodstock Always. There were so many plans and hopes . . . we've sure had a difficult time making everyone's dreams come true.
