Meetin' the New Neighbors

While at the ranch in New Mexico I hoped to meet some of my new neighbors. Most of the neighbors are a good 40 acres away, some of us have 10,000 acres separating us. (Can you say "sweeeeeet"?)

Sunday evening hubby and I were walking our little behinds off trying to mark where the pasture (relative term) fences would go. It was quiet except for a light breeze and the usual bird chirping.

Then I heard it. At first it was very faint but I knew what it was as it got louder and louder. It was a mother, a concerned mother, calling her kids in for dinner. They hadn't listened to her first call. Now she was getting kinda crabby, I could tell.

I walked to the end of my driveway, eager to meet the new neighbors. I hoped it might save the young ones a spanking if I showed up with a big smile on my face.

Junior almost ran into me in his haste to get to mama's side!



The smile at the end of the driveway helped and I met who'd been bellowing.



She introduced the kids, we chatted a bit and exchanged phone numbers. Then she excused herself. She said they were meeting up with others and were headed out to grab a bite.



I followed the little family further down the ranch road hoping to meet more of the girls...



I was so busy introducing myself I didn't hear the dinner bell.



Better get a move on little doogie...
